About Arches of Serenity
I have been to Masjid an-Nabawi, and I think what stays with you most is not the scale of it, as overwhelming as that is. It is the arches. The way they repeat, one after another, drawing you deeper into the space. The way the light falls through them. The way everything feels both ancient and alive at the same time.
I wanted to capture that rhythm. The elegant black and white stone arches, the white marble columns with their brass capitals, the sense that you are standing inside something that has been holding people for centuries. The second mosque ever built in Islamic history, and yet when you are there, it does not feel like history. It feels like now.
This painting is my attempt to bring some of that feeling home.
Dimensions: 100×120cm
Acrylic on canvas
The iconic arches of the Prophet's Mosque are among the most recognisable and beloved forms in Islamic architecture. This painting strives to hold something of that timeless beauty.
