Ayat ul Kursi - Kufic

Ayat ul Kursi is the most powerful verse in the Quran. Most of us grew up reciting it, hearing it, feeling its weight without always understanding every word. I wanted to paint it in a way that made you stop and really look at it.

The calligraphy is Kufic, built up in textured gold strokes that catch the light as you move around the piece. The verse unfolds from the bottom right corner of the canvas, spiralling inward toward a centre that seems to glow from within. It took a long time to get the balance right between the intricacy of the script and that sense of radiant stillness at the heart of it.

Every phrase in Ayat ul Kursi is an affirmation. Of His majesty. Of His protection. Of the fact that He never sleeps, never tires, never stops watching over us. I wanted this painting to carry that feeling into whatever room it lives in
