Arches of Serenity is inspired by the iconic arches of al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. The black and white stone bands, white marble columns and brass capitals create a rhythm that is both elegant and familiar. I wanted to focus on the calm held in this architecture, and the significance of a mosque that has been part of Muslim life for centuries.
At the heart of the painting is an appreciation of the care and beauty found in Islamic architecture. It is an invitation to pause and contemplate a place that holds so much history, prayer and devotion.
