THE STORY
“A window onto the place I was longing to reach.”
Supernova holds the intense anticipation I felt before setting out on pilgrimage to the Kaabah. I imagined the painting as a window, with the Kaabah on the other side and myself watching, waiting for the journey to begin.
At the centre, the simplicity of the Kaabah holds the focus. From it, light and colour radiate outwards, turning an abstract desire into a physical moment of expectation.
Material & Process
This is acrylic on canvas. I built up thick paint from the centre, allowing the light and colour to radiate outward from the Kaabah. The painting is finished with a coat of resin, which gives the surface a deep, glass-like finish and strengthens the sense of looking through a window.
