giclée print
master framers
by Siddiqa Juma
Every piece is an act of Faith
About Pilgrim's Path
Every year, millions of Muslims from every country in the world travel to Makkah for Hajj. They come from different languages, cultures and backgrounds, but they all arrive at the same place and walk the same path. This piece is made from thousands of used postage stamps collected from countries across the world.
Behind the Painting
Each stamp has already travelled. It has been handled, sent, received. It carries something of where it came from. I chose stamps because the ummah is made up of people with stories, origins and journeys. The diversity of the stamps is the diversity of the people. Arranged in circles around the Kaabah, they are performing tawaf.
How It Was Made
Thousands of used postage stamps, most bought and some donated, were laid down and glued onto the canvas in overlapping layers. They are arranged in concentric circles so that the stamps appear to be in circumambulation around the Kaabah at the centre. The Kaabah is represented by darker stamps at the heart of the piece.

Your print is made to last. A few things worth knowing:
Keep it out of direct sunlight where possible. Archival paper holds its colour well, but prolonged UV exposure will fade any print over time.
Avoid hanging in humid rooms such as bathrooms or kitchens. Moisture is the main enemy of fine art paper.
If your print arrives rolled, lay it flat under a few books for 24 hours before framing. It will settle naturally.
For cleaning, a soft dry cloth on the glass is all you need. Never spray directly onto the print.
