The Calling
The Adhan is a sound I grew up with. It was always there, part of the rhythm of the day. Five times a day, that call going out, and everything pausing around it. But there is another kind of calling that Muslims talk about, the call to visit the Kaabah. It is not something you hear with your ears. It is something you feel in your heart, like a sonic boom that only you can sense. The way the Adhan invites you to prayer, this invisible sound invites you to make the journey.
The painting is built up with thick acrylic, layer upon layer, applied in circular motion. The Kaabah sits at the centre and the paint swirls outward from it, wave after wave of textured circles. Pilgrims drawn in, responding to that call with Labbayk. Here I am.

The Kaabah at the epicentre, swirling circles pulsing outward like a sonic boom. Unseen vibrations connecting us to a divine message. Every line an echo of the heart's call to circumambulate, to seek, to return.
